I’ve had this post in the works for quite some time, because I know I’m not the only one who has swooned over Sezane clothing. The only problem is that there isn’t a Sezane store in Chicago, and they don’t have customer reviews on their website, so it’s very easy only to then second guess what’s in your cart. Should I get my usual size? Does it run small? Will it be petite friendly? Do I need to think about European sizing?
Lucky for you, I have been stalking this “cool girl” brand for quite some time now, and I’ve placed both successful and unsuccessful orders – and I’m here to report back on Sezane sizing insights for everything I’ve tried.
Wait, what is Sézane?
Sézane is a French fashion brand that has garnered international acclaim for its classic, effortlessly chic Parisian style. Founded by Morgane Sézalory in 2013, the brand started as an online-only venture, a pioneer in the direct-to-consumer model among French fashion labels.
Sézane is known for its commitment to sustainable fashion, high-quality craftsmanship, and timeless designs that transcend seasonal trends. The brand offers a wide range of products, including clothing, shoes, accessories, and leather goods, all imbued with the essence of French elegance and simplicity.
How Does Sézane Sizing Work?
Sézane’s sizing can be described as true to French sizing standards, which may differ slightly from US or UK sizing. Generally, the brand is known for its tailored fits that are flattering without being overly tight or restrictive.
Does Sézane Run Big or Small?
The question of whether Sézane runs big or small can depend on the specific item and the material used. As a general rule, many customers find that Sézane’s clothing tends to run true to size or slightly small, particularly when it comes to their blouses, dresses, and tailored pieces. It’s not uncommon for shoppers to size up, especially if they are between sizes or prefer a more relaxed fit.
For knitwear, such as sweaters and cardigans, the fit can vary depending on the intended design. Some knit pieces are designed to offer a more snug fit, while others are crafted for a looser, more oversized look. For example, I usually get a small in sweaters so that they aren’t too snug, but I can size down to an XS in most of Sezane’s sweaters and they are sitll roomy and comfortable.
It’s always a good idea to check the product descriptions and sizing recommendations on Sézane’s website, where specific details about the fit and fabric are provided.
To ensure the best fit, it’s advisable to take your measurements and compare them with the sizing chart provided by Sézane. Keep in mind that fabric composition can also affect the fit; materials with less stretch may require sizing up for comfort. Ultimately, understanding Sézane’s sizing involves a combination of checking their size guides, considering the specific design of the piece, and sometimes relying on the experiences shared by other Sézane customers… like me!
Sezane Sizing Review

GASPARD CARDIGAN
Sezane Sizing Tip: The Gaspard Cardigan runs true-to-size to a little big. I sized down to an XS.
The Gaspard Cardigan is one of Sezane’s signature sweaters, and now that I own one, I understand why they keep making it year after year! It has a relaxed fit that still looks very polished, with delicate buttons that you can put in the front or the back. So versatile!! It’s made from mohair, baby alpaca and polyamide which I don’t find itchy at all. It also comes in 28 (!!) colors, so there really is something for everyone. 10/10 recommend!

BARRY CARDIGAN
Sizing Tip: The Barry Cardigan runs true-to-size. I’m in an XS.
Because the Barry Cardigan is really just the v-neck version of the Gaspard sweater, I was surprised that I didn’t like it on me! The neck felt really wide, but the rest of the sweater felt like the right size. That being said, I love it on other people, so I think it’s just a me thing! It comes in 19 colors and I love that you can wear the buttons in the front or the back.

TERESA CARDIGAN
Sizing Tip: The Teresa Cardigan runs a little big. I sized down to an XS.
Technically the cardigan I’m wearing above and in the very first photo of this post is old – but this one looks identical besides the updated floral print! They both have delicate buttons that you can wear in the front as a v-neck sweater or in back as a high neck sweater with a dip in the back. This one is made of mohair and wool, so it’s a little itchier than the Gaspard, but not enough to bother me.

ELOISA JUMPER
Sizing Tip: This sweater runs pretty true-to-size. I have an XS and it fits well, but I also could size up to a small for a slightly more oversized look.
My mom got me this sweater for Christmas a few years ago, but I looooove this new floral print. This one is also made with mohair and wool, so it’s a little itchy but, like my floral cardigan, it’s not enough to bother me. That being said, you can also easily layer a long sleeve tee underneath!

AURORE JUMPER
Sizing Tip: The Aurore Jumper runs true to size. I have a size small.
This is my latest Sezane purchase and I am in looooove. It’s literally the perfect winter sweater when you want to feel cute and a little flirty while still saying warm! It’s a little long on me, but it’s very easy to tuck under so that it looks a little more petite friendly. This is also made with mohair and wool but for some reason it feels softer than the floral sweaters? I find it to be very comfortable. It also comes in white and pink!

MEDERICK COAT
Sizing Tip: The Mederick Coat runs big. I am in a size 2 here.
I had really high hopes for this coat and unfortunately, it did not deliver for me. I think it would look much better on someone taller than me, but it’s a little too long on my 5’2″ frame. I also really didn’t like that it doesn’t have buttons or a zipper – the only way to close it is with the belt. This is just not practical for Chicago winters, and I think it makes it look too much like a robe on me. All that being said, it’s beautifully made… just not for me!
