Got Something Real to Say? We Want to Hear It.
Let’s skip the formal stuff for a second. If you’ve used a product, lived with it for a while, and formed an actual opinion about it — that’s more valuable to us than a perfectly polished writing portfolio. Seriously.
TrendsInReview gets pitches from all kinds of people. Bloggers, freelancers, students, stay-at-home parents, fitness junkies, skincare obsessives, frequent travelers. Some of them have never written for a website before in their life. And some of those have turned out to be our best contributors — because they had something genuine to say and just said it.
That’s what this page is about. If you’ve got that, read on.
Why Write for TrendsInReview?
Okay fair question. There are a lot of sites accepting guest posts. Why us?
For starters, we actually read every submission. You’re not going into a black hole here. We give feedback, we communicate, and if your piece needs work before it goes live we’ll tell you specifically what and why — not just send you a generic rejection.
Beyond that, TrendsInReview is a growing platform with a real audience. People who land here are actively shopping, comparing, and looking for opinions they can trust. Getting your name and your writing in front of that kind of reader — someone who’s actually engaged and not just scrolling past — is genuinely worth something.
And honestly? Writing about products you’ve actually used is one of the most practical ways to build a portfolio if you’re just starting out. You already have the experience. You just have to put it into words.
What Kind of Content Are We Looking For?
Short answer — real experiences with real products. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
Long answer — we publish reviews, comparisons, buying guides, and first-hand experience pieces across every category we cover. Fashion, footwear, beauty and skincare, home products, electronics, health and fitness, kids and baby stuff, food and drink, travel, and accessories.
The best pitches we get usually start with something like — “I’ve tried six different versions of this product over the past year and here’s what I actually learned.” That’s the kind of thing our readers can’t get from a brand’s website. That’s what makes a piece worth publishing.
What we’re NOT looking for is fluff. Generic “top 10 products in this category” lists with no personal experience behind them. Rewrites of brand descriptions. Anything that reads like it was written in five minutes with zero actual knowledge of the subject. Our readers can tell the difference, and so can we.
Topics We Cover
If your idea fits into any of these spaces, you’re in the right place:
- Fashion and Apparel — Clothing brands, style tips, honest brand comparisons
- Footwear — Sneakers, boots, sandals, comfort wear, athletic shoes
- Beauty and Skincare — Moisturizers, serums, makeup, hair care, routines that actually work
- Home and Garden — Appliances, furniture, organization, outdoor gear
- Electronics and Gadgets — Everyday tech, phone accessories, smart home stuff
- Health and Fitness — Supplements, gym gear, workout clothing, wellness products
- Kids and Babies — Strollers, toys, feeding gear, clothing — things parents actually need honest opinions on
- Food and Beverages — Subscription boxes, specialty snacks, kitchen tools
- Travel — Luggage, travel accessories, booking platforms, destination tips
- Accessories — Bags, wallets, sunglasses, jewelry — the finishing touches
Got an idea that doesn’t quite fit any of these but feels like it belongs on TrendsInReview? Pitch it anyway. We’ll tell you honestly if it works.
What Makes a Good Submission
We’re not going to hand you a 47-point style guide. But here’s what we genuinely care about when we’re reading a pitch or a draft:
You’ve actually used the product. This is the big one. We can tell when someone has and when someone hasn’t. Don’t pitch something you haven’t touched.
You have an actual opinion. Not “this product has pros and cons.” Everyone knows that. What do YOU think? Would you buy it again? Would you recommend it to your best friend or quietly talk them out of it?
It’s written like a human being. Conversational, clear, direct. You don’t need to sound like a journalist. You just need to sound like yourself talking to someone who’s about to spend their money on something.
It hasn’t been published anywhere else. We only publish original content. If it’s live somewhere already, it’s not right for us.
It’s a reasonable length. Most good review pieces on TrendsInReview land somewhere between 800 and 1,500 words. Not a hard rule, but a good ballpark to aim for.
How to Pitch Us
Keep it simple. Send us a short pitch — a few sentences about what you want to write, why you’re qualified to write it, and any relevant experience you have with the product or topic. You don’t need to send a full draft upfront unless you already have one ready.
If we like the idea, we’ll come back to you with next steps. If it’s not right for us, we’ll tell you that too — and if there’s a version of the idea that could work better, we’ll usually say so.
Fill out the form below to get started. We aim to respond to all pitches within 3 to 5 business days.
Contributor Guidelines — Quick Version
Before you submit, just make sure your piece ticks these boxes:
- First-hand experience with whatever you’re writing about
- Original content — not published or pending anywhere else
- Written in plain, clear English — no keyword stuffing, no fluff
- Between 800 and 1,500 words for most pieces
- Includes your honest opinion — not just a product description rewrite
- No promotional language or brand-sponsored bias
A Few Questions We Get Asked a Lot
Do you pay contributors?
Right now we work on an exposure and byline basis. Your name, a short bio, and a link back to your site or social — all included on your published piece. We’re upfront about this because we think you deserve to know before you put in the effort.
How long does it take to hear back?
Usually within 3 to 5 business days for pitches. If you’ve submitted a full draft, give us up to a week.
Can I include a link to my own site?
Yes — one link in your author bio. We don’t allow promotional links inside the body of the article.
What if my piece gets rejected?
We’ll tell you why. And if there’s a way to rework it into something that fits better, we’ll mention that too. A rejection isn’t always a dead end.
Can I write more than one piece?
Absolutely. A lot of our best contributors have submitted multiple times. If your first piece goes well, we’ll be happy to work with you again.
One Last Thing
We started TrendsInReview because we wanted a place where real people could find real opinions. Every contributor who writes for us is part of making that happen. So if you’ve got something worth saying — say it. We’re listening.
