NUNA TRIV NEXT REVIEW

by admin

Given that we are first time parents, I figured I would put off a stroller review for a while. But I’ve gotten so many messages asking what we picked and why – and I get it! There are SO MANY stroller options out there and the search can get overwhelming really quickly. So, I thought I’d share our thought process now, and then update this post once our little guy arrives and we’ve used it for a while.

Nuna TRIV Next Review

Before researching too much, we knew that we wanted a stroller that was easily compatible with whatever car seat we picked. I also wanted something that is easy to maneuver, lightweight, and compact enough that I can handle assembling and disassembling on my own.

We were quickly drawn to popular options like the Uppababy Vista and Nuna Mixx, but the Nuna TRIV Next ultimately won us over and here’s why.

Key Features of the Nuna TRIV Next Stroller

1.Ultra compact design

One of the primary selling points of the Nuna TRIV Next is its ultra-compact design. It’s only 19.4 pounds, which makes it one of the lightest options we looked at. We love that it’s easy to lift and carry, plus storage is a breeze because it doesn’t take up a lot of space! It’s literally just been chilling in our coat closet, completely out of the way, since we got it. SO NICE.

2.One-Hand Fold

In addition to the compact and lightweight design, you also can fold it up with just ONE HAND. We were blown away when we first saw it in action. Both folding and unfolding the stroller is insanely easy, so I don’t need to worry about struggling with it if I’m alone while juggling our baby in my arms.

3. Compatible with Nuna PIPA Car Seat

We picked out the Nuna Pipa RX Car Seat before we decided on a stroller because it is really lightweight and it has a GREAT safety rating. Needless to say, we love that the TRIV Next is easily compatible with this stroller so it’s super easy to transfer him from the car to the stroller without waking him up.

Nuna also makes a bassinet attachment that easily snaps into the stroller for newborn walks. And if you aren’t set on the Pipa RX Car Seat, you could go baseless and purchase the Nuna URBN Car Seat and TRIV Next in this bundle!

4. Comfortable Seat and Recline

Once he’s old enough, the TRIV Next seat seems really roomy and comfortable for your little one, with a reclining backrest that can be adjusted to multiple positions. It has a near-flat recline and a five-point harness system.

5. All-Terrain Wheels

We were originally a little worried that this stroller was too compact, but ultimately I think their all-terrain wheels will be able to handle everything we need them to. We’ve gone on a few practice walks with Luna and it seems to handle uneven sidewalks really easily!

6.Large Canopy

The extended canopy on the TRIV Next provides excellent sun protection, with a UPF 50+ rating. It also features a peek-a-boo window, allowing you to keep an eye on your baby without having to stop or adjust the canopy.

7.Easy to Clean

The Nuna TRIV Next is designed with parents in mind, and that includes easy-to-clean features. The seat fabric is removable and machine washable, while the rest of the stroller can be wiped down quickly with a damp cloth. Because of this, you might want to consider saving some money and getting it in this lighter color for $525 instead of in black like we did!

8.Premium Materials and Build

Nuna has built a reputation for high-quality baby gear, and the TRIV Next is no exception. Even though it’s smaller than other options, it still feels durable, solid, and built to last.

How does the Nuna TRIV Next compare to other options?

There are definitely pros and cons to all of the stroller options out there – and what made the most sense for us might not make the most sense for you! Whether you aren’t worried about a compact design or you’re planning on having kids close in age and want the double stroller capability, one of these other options might be better for you. So here is a quick comparison of the top 3 strollers we considered:

NUNA TRIV NEXT

  • Weight: 19.4 lbs
  • Fold: One-handed, compact fold
  • Size: Compact and lightweight, designed for portability and ease of storage
  • Build Quality: Premium materials, including a sleek, modern design with durable fabrics and a sturdy frame
  • Seat Recline/Compatibility: Near-flat recline + carseat and bassinet attachments
  • Harness: 5-point harness
  • Canopy: Large, extendable canopy with a UPF 50+ rating
  • Seat Fabric: Soft and easy to clean, machine washable
  • Wheels: All-terrain wheels (7-inch front, 10-inch rear)
  • Suspension: All-wheel suspension for a smooth ride
  • Maneuverability: Excellent, lightweight, easy to maneuver through tight spaces and urban environments
  • Basket: Small, accessible basket
  • Storage: Adequate for everyday items like a diaper bag or light groceries, but not spacious enough for larger items
  • Double Stroller Option: No

I think the Nuna TRIV Next makes the most sense for people who live in a city/are short on space, people who like to travel, and people who want something really easy to handle. The other options felt intimidating to me, especially when thinking about being on my own – but this compact and lightweight design feels approachable and manageable.

You might NOT want it if you want a bigger storage basket for groceries or big outings, you want bigger wheels to manage terrain, and/or you know difficult that you want more kids and will need something that can be turned into a double stroller.

UPPABABY VISTA

  • Weight: 27 lbs (with seat)
  • Fold: One-handed fold, but larger than the Nuna TRIV Next
  • Size: Larger, full-sized stroller
  • Build Quality: High-quality materials, including a durable aluminum frame and premium fabrics.
  • Seat Recline/Compatibility: Multi-position recline (including full-flat for infants) + carseat and bassinet attachments
  • Harness: 5-point harness with adjustable height
  • Canopy: Extra-large, extendable canopy with UPF 50+ protection
  • Seat Fabric: Premium, breathable fabrics; Seat fabric is removable and washable
  • Wheels: Shock-absorbing front and rear wheels
  • Suspension: Full suspension system for a smooth ride on various surfaces
  • Maneuverability: Excellent, although it’s heavier and bulkier than the Nuna TRIV Next and Mixx so it’s harder to navigate in tight spaces
  • Basket: Large, under-seat basket with easy access
  • Storage: One of the largest storage baskets on the market, perfect for longer outings or carrying multiple items
  • Double Stroller Option: Yes

I know so many people who LOVE the UPPAbaby Vista, but it felt like too much for me. Because it’s larger and heavier than the other options, we really thought about if the extra features mattered to us… and the answer was no. That being said, they might be for you!

I often hear people rave about the smooth ride, spacious storage basket, and overall top notch quality. That being said, I have heard from a bunch of people who purchased it with the intention of using it as a double stroller… only to find out that they don’t like the double stroller setup. So keep that in mind if that’s a big factor for you!

NUNA MIXX NEXT

  • Weight: 26.4 lbs
  • Fold: One-handed fold, compact but slightly larger than the TRIV Next
  • Size: Slightly bigger and bulkier than the TRIV Next, but more compact than the UPPAbaby Vista
  • Build Quality: Similar to the TRIV Next, with a high-end, sleek, and durable design.
  • Seat Recline/Compatability: Multi-position recline (full recline for infants) + carseat and bassinet attachments
  • Harness: 5-point harness
  • Canopy: Extendable, with UPF 50+ sun protection
  • Seat Fabric: Soft, durable, and easy to clean
  • Wheels: All-terrain wheels (front swivel and rear larger wheels)
  • Suspension: All-wheel suspension
  • Maneuverability: Very good, with excellent maneuverability through urban streets and rougher paths
  • Basket: Medium-sized, accessible storage basket
  • Storage: Larger than the TRIV Next but smaller than the Vista’s basket
  • Double Stroller Option: Yes

We briefly considered the Nuna MIXX Next because it is slightly larger than the TRIV Next, but it has the ability to convert into a double stroller. It’s also smaller than the UPPAbaby Vista, so it feels like a good in-between option. I also found it on sale in one color option here!!

Overall Nuna TRIV Next Review

Truthfully, I can’t answer that question yet because we haven’t used it with a baby yet… but we really feel like the Nuna TRIV Next is a great investment for us and our needs. It’s expensive, but it’s also incredibly well made and has so many features that are appealing for us and our city life. Stay tuned for an update once our little guy arrives!
