About Gravity Blankets

Gravity Blankets is a sleep and relaxation products company that offers a range of weighted blankets, pillows, and wellness products. Although there are many similar products on the market today, Gravity Blankets was listed as one of the best inventions of 2018 by TIME Magazine. This Gravity Blankets review covers the most important aspects of the brand to help you make an informed purchasing decision.

Overview of Gravity Blankets

Mike Grillo, co-founder and CEO of Gravity Blankets, started the company in 2017. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Gravity’s main goal is to help people get a good night’s sleep so they wake up feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the day. Using the scientific method of deep touch pressure stimulation, Gravity Blankets promotes deep and uninterrupted sleep.

How Do Gravity Blankets Work?

Gravity Blankets use the power of weight to relax the nervous system, allowing users to unwind and achieve the best possible sleep. Mike Grillo, CEO of Gravity, compares the feeling of using a Gravity Blanket to “gently falling asleep in an embrace.”

Each blanket is equipped with an inner weight piece containing fine glass beads. When the blanket is used, these beads distribute evenly across the body. Using the scientific method of deep touch pressure stimulation, the Gravity Blanket targets key pressure points on the body, resulting in deeper and more uninterrupted sleep.

Each blanket is individually tailored to the user. They work best when they weigh 10% of the user’s body weight—unless you prefer a heavier or lighter blanket for specific reasons. Customers of average height are recommended to choose products at the lower end of the scale. For safety reasons, Gravity Blankets are not recommended for use by individuals weighing less than 50 lb.

What Are Gravity Blankets Made Of?

Gravity Blankets contain fine glass beads to provide deep pressure stimulation. This material is environmentally friendly, which is why Gravity has switched from using plastic poly pellets. The Calm X Blanket is the only blanket that still contains plastic poly pellets, but these will be replaced by glass beads in the future.
