Grip6 Belts Review

About Grip6

Grip6 manufactures rugged, durable, American-made belts and other accessories for the adventurous and fashion-conscious customer. The Grip6 catalog includes a variety of belts as well as buckles, straps, belt hangers and t-shirts for men, women and children.

In this review of Grip6 belts, we take an in-depth look at the brand and a selection of their best sellers to help you decide whether or not these belts are right for you. We’ll give you an overview of the brand with its pros and cons, Grip6’s best-selling belts and wallet covers, promotional offers and more.

Overview of Grip6

Grip6 was founded in 2015 by founder BJ Minson. He envisioned belts that are simple, functional, durable and made exclusively in the USA. What started as a Kickstarter project for a “clean, comfortable, minimalist belt” with “no bulk, no holes and no belt flap” with a goal of $7,500 turned into a phenomenal success with more than $26,000 in pledges.

From making over 10,000 belts in his Utah garage to setting up a factory to handle the onslaught of satisfied and eager customers, Grip6 began to establish itself as an all-American brand. In this review of Grip6 belts, we look at the functional aspects that make these products what they are.

The Anatomy of a Grip6 Belt

First up is Badgerbite, a technology patented by Grip6 that allows the belt to do away with bulky clips, buckles, pins or hooks to hold the belt in place. The Badgerbite technology incorporated into the material of the belt allows the buckle to withstand about 250 pounds of pressure. Not that a normal person should have that level of tensile strength on their waist, but that’s an impressive amount of pressure for a belt to withstand without a traditional buckle.

Grip6 belt buckles are made from certified 6061 T6 aluminum. The buckle is then anodized or powder coated to add an extra layer of durability and protection. Grip6 belts feel light on the hip, with the base buckle model weighing only 25 grams, which combined with the base model of the belt gives a weight of 79 grams.

If you take a look at the Grip6 belt reviews on Amazon, you’ll notice that this makes the Grip6 belt lighter than any other belt on Amazon’s list of top sellers.

But that’s not all. Grip6 belts also utilize another proprietary feature called Fuselock technology. This feature combined with Badgerbite technology allows Grip6 belts to have a load bearing locking end that ensures the belt maintains its integrity while enhancing its overall construction. Again, this is insanely strong protection that borders on overkill in a belt. But that’s what you should expect from a belt that boasts toughness and durability.

If there’s one thing this Grip6 belt review can confirm, it’s that these belts don’t sacrifice comfort for durability.

The fact that all Grip6 straps are made of nylon 6.6 also contributes to its incredible durability. This type of nylon can withstand higher temperatures, has a higher tensile strength and better abrasion resistance than normal aluminum.

The Grip6 product line offers us a range of belt fabrics and buckles that we can combine as we wish. This allows you to create your own customized belt. The buckle comes in a standard 1.5“ inch size and a narrow 1.1” inch version, as the thickness of the buckle is a matter of preference for some of us.

When you think of long-lasting and durable products, you might assume that the end result will be stiff and not very malleable. Our test of Grip6 belts revealed that this is definitely not the case with this brand. The team has developed webbing that is resistant to deformation, abrasion and stiffness without the use of stiffening agents. The company claims that it tests the belts with multiple machines to develop a 30-year wear standard for each of its belts.

Pros

  • An incredibly strong, durable and long-lasting belt
  • Patented Badgerbite and Fuselock technology ensures your pants stay on your waist while withstanding up to 250 lbs of external pressure and over 2,000 lbs of breaking strength
  • Lighter than the best of the best competitors thanks to nylon 6.6 construction and aluminum buckle
  • Customization options allow you to mix and match your belt and buckle to develop your own unique look
  • Unlimited lifetime warranty is a testament to the brand’s confidence in its products
  • Everything is made in the USA and supports American companies

Cons

  • A common complaint about Grip6’s belts is that they are built for slim people with no stomach
  • Although Grip6 delivers on its promise of durability, there are instances where the belt seems to warp
  • The unique buckle feature is not as easy as it seems and tends to come undone, especially if you are a tall person with some belly
  • The aluminum buckle and nylon webbing of the belt look nice, but can feel cheap and plasticky to some
  • The fact that Grip6 is made in the USA also means that the products can cost more than the average belt.

Grip6 designs numerous collections based on materials such as the Carbon Fiber series, on environmental themes such as the Conservation and Naturalist series and on practical lines such as Workbelt and Craftsman. Grip6 also offers single buckles and straps, belt hangers, T-shirts and belt combinations in 2-packs.

This Grip6 belt review gives you an insight into the brand’s most popular belts for men and women.

Grip6 Web Belt – Men’s Ninja

The Web Belt – Men’s Ninja is just as the name suggests: slim and minimalist, but still equipped with all the advantages that Grip6 belts have to offer. It features a CNC laser-cut, brushed T6061 aluminum buckle that is also anodized and weighs only 25 grams. The belt is 1.5” inches wide, infinitely adjustable, weighs 50-80 grams depending on size, and has a breaking strength of over 2000 lbs.

This belt is inconspicuous but deadly. Simple, masculine and goes with almost anything. The Badgerbite and Fuselock technology ensures that the belt will always keep your pants up and your dignity intact. The Web Belt – Men’s Ninja is available in sizes 28 to 50 and comes in black, mocha, navy, gray and khaki for $35.

Grip6 Women’s Gunmetal Belt

The Grip6 Women’s Gunmetal Belt is proof that Grip6 products are stylish no matter who you are. Grip6’s belts for women are just as tough as those for men: this heavy-duty belt features a CNC laser-cut buckle weighing 16 grams, made from brushed T6061 aluminum and anodized for a scratch-resistant finish. The belt is made of a high-strength nylon fiber webbing with a breaking strength of 2000 lbs.

This urban chic belt looks great with jeans and leather. As you may have noticed in this Grip6 belt review, you can choose from a variety of colors for the buckle, which are available in dark neutral colors like black, mocha, navy, gray and khaki. The dimensions of the buckle are slightly smaller than the average Grip6 belt at 2.4 x 1.4” x 0.125 inches. The Gunmetal belt for women is priced at $29 and is available in sizes 0 through 24.

Grip6 Workbelt Pro Granite

Even at first glance, this is no ordinary belt. The Workbelt Pro Granite adheres to military specifications that increase the vertical strength of the webbing while being wider than standard Grip6 belts. This rugged design allows you to focus on the task at hand and get your job done while the belt does its own work. The Workbelt Pro Granite includes a variety of belt and buckle combinations to allow you to work hard and play hard. However, because the belt is wider, it does not fit the standard Grip6 buckles.

Measuring 1.75” inches and weighing 84-132 grams, depending on the size of the belt, this belt and buckle are in a different league than the standard belts. The Workbelt Pro Granite is available in Dusk Blue, Wolf Grey and Coyote colors for $49 and is offered in sizes 28 to 50.

Grip6 Review: What Do Customers Think?

A quick look at the online reviews shows that the general consensus is that people love what Grip6 has to offer. There are a few caveats here and there, but most people agree that buying a Grip6 belt and buckle is a solid investment.

Of the over 4,300 Grip6 reviews on Amazon, over 75% are positive 5-star reviews and only a tiny 11% of reviews give 3, 2 or 1 star. The lower ratings come from comments about the durability of the webbing and buckle. It is also mentioned that customers initially had difficulty figuring out how to close the belt.

According to this Grip6 belt review, the most noticeable problem comes from men who are medically overweight and have a large belly. These customers report that the belt buckles under pressure or that they have trouble keeping the belt in place.

A single review on the Grip6 website states that the belt and buckle are relatively easy to use, even if you only have one hand. That’s pretty amazing.

Is Grip6 Worth It?

With prices ranging from $29 to $90 and the option to purchase custom straps and buckles for an extra level of personalization, Grip6 belts aren’t so expensive that you have to think twice – but they’re definitely not cheap either.

The styles of Grip6 belts are pretty much the same, with subtleties in the weave and buckle designs, with the most noticeable customization element being the multi-colored belt straps. None of these belts are flashy or attention-grabbing, but are meant to emphasize what you’re wearing.
